It's A small world on a bike!

It has been a long winter. I am inching to get on my bike and get some of  this winter spread off. However, it has not been a fruitless winter. We have been advocating for Newtown Battle Field State Park to keep it open to the public as well as changing the trails into multi-use trails meaning for hikers and bikers to use. Secondly, Tom, and I have been taking a class at Cornell University through the League of American Bicyclists, Traffic Skills 101, taught by Lois Chapman, who is also on the board of  the New York Bike Coalition. .
Went to Albany for the NY Bike Summit.  Another Advocacy thing! Had a very nice ride around the Capitol District and through Washington Park with NYBC Board members. Afterwords had lunch at Debbie's Kitchen (Turkey with cranberry mayo, sliced apple and Gouda was to die for) with our fellow riders including Andre' from Ithaca who also helps teach our cycling class. (small world). During lunch, Brian Kehoe, Director of  NY Bike Coalition, came in and joined us at our table. (small world). We proceeded to tell him our agenda about Newtown Battlefield whether he wanted to hear it or not! He listened, nodded his head, gave us his card and told us to call him. He was appeared actually interested and probably board! Anyhoo, it was well worth the trip, made some new friends in high places and I look forward to going down to Albany again.  If anything just for the great sandwiches!

Ouch

Well, tomorrow, Christmas is here. Little one's eyes will be bigger than silver dollars. Babies will still be crying, hungry and need their diapers changed, and the rest waiting for their next present to be opened yet I pray that all will take a moment to remember why we have Christmas in the first place, to bow our heads and thank Him for all that we have, have not and watch over the ones who are not with us.

God Bless You All,
Carol

Lights, Bikes and Love

Isn't it getting beautiful out side with different color lights on all the houses and stores? Tom and I put a couple of bikes out front and wrapped them with some colorful lights with Frosty hanging between them. Just a start, So much to do and so little time. I wish this season lasted all year!! (for many different reasons) Give your significant other, husband, girlfriend, or loved one (whoever that may be) a huge hug filled with love, peace, and joy!

Autumn

I love walking in the woods and hearing the rustling of the new falling leaves, watch the rabbit hop away or a doe and her fawn scampering across my path. Isn't it beautiful out when you look up and see the gorgeous blue sky while the geese sore across.

Autumn ---When things look dead but are only sleeping, waiting to be wakened again in the early spring.

Medicine for my Soul

The first thing I feel I have to do is figure out what to say on this blog!! This shouldn't be too hard as my head is exploding with too many thoughts!
I have come to the conclusion that I will be writing about a lot of things here. This may be just what the doctor ordered as can see how this can be very therapeutic! I think I will write about not just cycling, but thoughts and feelings as well as tidbits I run across on my journeys. I may add recipes, reviews and rants about subjects that are thought provoking to me and hopefully you.
Hey, I feel better already!

The First Blog.

This is my first venture into the world of blogging. So at this time I would like to introduce myself. My name is Carol. I am the Vice President of The Finger Lakes Mountain Bike Club and I will be the author of most of this mess that you will be reading. I am not by any means an experienced mountain biker nor will I ever try to portray myself as one. I am just a girl that likes to ride her bike and help the community that I live in. In the future you can expect to see how we are fumbling through various projects that we have embarked on. Untill then....Put Your Seat in the Saddle and Pedal!.....Carol
